Road and Traffic Condition

Hmm.. it's MUCH better than Kuala Lumpur! Kuala Lumpur roads are like pre-World War 2 with potholes and visible cracks. They would only repair it when someone dies from it (welcome to Malaysia). Sure, you can lodge complaints about it but eh eh, aint gonna cut it.

I would like to say congratulations to Sarawak Ministry for keeping the road smooth! I am a proud Sarawakian here! :)

As far as traffic goes, if you're planning to rent a car and drive around, you will notice the following :

1. You will notice that drivers there doesnt use the horn
2. Rarely see the drivers use the turning light signal (my English kinda suck :P)
3. So many roundabouts
4. More cars than motorcycles

Nice view

Some explanation:

1) For Sarawakian drivers, using the Horn is considered VERY RUDE. They will only use it if their blood-pressure is really high and gonna go look for trouble. Be careful. If you horn one of the gangster members..you're dead. Keep the horn to yourself :P

2) They can read each others mind, so thats why they dont bother to use the signal. According to my girlfriend, they have less road accidents than Kuala Lumpur.

3) That's the first thing she said to me :"We have a roundabout every 15 seconds here". Haha.

4) Their public transportation are almost non-existent, so for these people buying a car is a necessity. I hope they will do something about the public transport (bus and taxi generally) or tourists gonna go back home feeling disappointed.

The City of Kuching

Uuuuuuu...the last time i went here was like, when i was 2 years old. Mwahaha! Anyways, it is very clean, beautiful, good city planning (unlike Kuala Lumpur), so many trees (which i really like), awesome cat statues around the city, not so many cars and so many eateries. You can find some shopping malls as well (but why would you go to the mall?), be sure to check out the Waterfront during the night or you can go there during the day and take a ride on one of their boats (they call it 'bot penambang')

Okay then, it's 2AM here. I'll proceed with Part 3 some other day :)

EDIT : According to my girlfriend : "It's called perahu penambang, and not bot penambang. The roundabouts are not 15seconds each, but actually big and a lot :p "
