Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2007
Thursday, May 10, 2007

Yup. I was away for about 10 days and worked as a temp for Saba Islamic Media, over at PWTC. It was such a nightmare actually bcoz of the dusts from the book. I suffered a major pimple break (i have extreme allergy to dusts), body aches (doctor had specifically told me not to lift any heavy objects) and stupid customers (that's normal).

Unloading time!

The opening day

It was all right i guess. The floor managers were cool. The provided food was a-okay. I even managed to sneaked out few times for quick cigarette puffs :p

The 'office hour' was basically 9am - 10pm, and every morning i felt like my body was cursing every second. But it's a memorable experience :)

Despite all that, i have few gripes that maybe someday the management should look into.

1) No dinner : They do provide lunch but unfortunately no dinner. Given the fact that we have to work until 10pm with no dinner would actually spell trouble next time. I would suggest that they provide the staff dinner around 6pm so that they would get energy to give the company profit. Duh. That's the point, right? Profit. Give them energy, see them smile, count the money.

2) Worthless staff : I would like to say nice job to all you who had given all to attend to customers eventho you guys were damn tired and hungry. The temp staff were attentive and hardworking :) ...i wish i could say the same for Saba's own staff. I could point atleast 2 people who literally 'just stand there and do nothing'. My opinion didnt go to waste as to quote Brother Abdullah during the time we were at the headquarters to unload the boxes from the lorry, "Staff kita sendiri yang tak boleh diharap." ("We can't rely on our own staff")

3) Rude PWTC security guards : The closing time was at 10pm..for THE CUSTOMERS AND PATRONS, moron. So next time dont whistle those people to get out. Where's the courtesy? Where's the manners? And after that, atleast give us like 15minutes to cleanup. Geez. My father is a security guard as well (for like 25+ years, with perfect attendance, with zero medical leave. try to beat that, asshole.).

Wargh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The PWTC loading/unloading bay. Brother Abdullah (white shirt in the middle) was really exhausted

Saba Islamic Media, Setiawangsa, KL

Oh yeah, in other news; i still havent got any reply or call from NST..which really sad. Time to recover back my pimple-ridden face... :(
